Animal-Assisted Life Skills
and Therapeutics Program

Intro

The bond between humans and animals is a powerful thing. Not only do they benefit your mental and physical health, but they're also fun to be around. And because this bond is so strong, we designed a program around it. AALST is a program designed to help you overcome life's challenges. The program is goal-based, and you're the one who sets them. We tailor your sessions to your goals and work with you to reach them in a fun and engaging way. We'll teach you how to improve your focus, sense of community, and various other life skills.

Goal

Our AALST program also supports equine-assisted learning and psychotherapy. Sessions can either are either mounted or grounded based on your goals. But, if you'd prefer to work with a smaller member of our ranch family, we have an array of other animals. When you first sign up, you'll get a hands-on approach to learning through working with our animals. And while our primary goal is to help you develop new, healthy skills, the program's goals are set by you. The first step to join is meeting with our behavioral staff. Here, you'll lay out what you want to achieve with us and how we can help you best. We want our participants to gain the ability to earn and give trust. Peer/community support is the key to our success, and we place it above all else.

The sessions support various skills and positive behaviors such as:
● Self-awareness/Self-esteem
● Coping skills
● Building community
● Task management
● Active listening
● Responsibility
● Relationship development
● Social Skills

And frequently reduce:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Guests

We hold equine-assisted therapeutic sessions for both youth, ages 8 and up, and adults. For younger clients, we offer individual or group based animal-assisted life skills sessions. Please, don't hesitate to bring individual clients or groups to join sessions. We'll tailor each session to meet your goals.

We encourage behavioral health agencies to take advantage of this program.

Testimonial from S.W., 9/13/2020

I can’t say enough great things about TRAK’s Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) program. Three years ago my daughter (age 13) was diagnosed with anxiety and OCD while my son (age 11) was diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and anger management issues. They entered traditional therapy almost immediately and were making progress. Then a year later their father was killed unexpectedly adding a layer of profound grief on top of their previous diagnoses. At this point my kids were stalling in their traditional therapy sessions. I came across TRAK and their EAP program and decided to give it a try. It has been remarkable! My children have made more progress in three months of EAP than in a whole year of traditional talk therapy. My kids trust their therapists and have opened up to them in so many ways. They are integrating the loss of their father as well as developing coping skills for their anxiety and anger. They also do weekly horseback riding lessons, which reinforces what they learn in EAP and helps build their confidence. I highly recommend TRAK EAP!

Testimonial from Cathy, 1/13/2020

From the very first time we were introduced to TRAK the staff and the animals it has truly been an amazing journey. Watching my daughter learn, grow and become so passionate about animals especially the horses has been a transformation  like no other.

Olivia started with the Equine Therapy group and it's been such a positive experience .Chelsea  (Rachel from Intermountain) and staff and volunteers have been amazing role models of hard work, dedication and caring for others and animals.

When Olivia started at TRAK she had nothing she was passionate about her grades were OK but her attitude was terrible. After going thru the Equine Therapy group Olivia signed up for volunteering,  we became members and she fell in love with the TRAK horses. She fell so in love she wanted to take riding lessons .

She has been  taking  lessons for around 9 months (she took time off during the summer  it was just too hot) with the most Amazing young lady Michaela. She is the most patient, and sweet person with such a positive influence for Olivia.

I love that they teach the riders the hard parts of riding a  horse, brushing, cleaning the hooves, carrying  the saddles etc. It's hard, dirty amazing work. It has taught Olivia so much and it has taken her out of her playing  on her tablet rut. She's in the fresh air working hard for her goals to be a Barrel Racer and Pole bender and to own several  of her own horses.

Anyone who has known Olivia prior to TRAK and now cannot believe the positive changes in her. From OK grades to Honor Roll 5 times since she started TRAK. She's gone from bad attitude about being on her tablet playing games to hours of crafting horse blankets, halters and bridles for her many collectable horses.

She has even managed to incorporate horses into her Science Fair project and her Worlds Event Report.

TRAK teaches empathy, kindness, working hard makes you feel  good about yourself. Working with animals is such a positive calming experience and at the end of the day they just make  you happy.

I encourage everyone to come to TRAK, get a membership and spend some time petting these fabulous furry friends.
